School Starts.............

School starts tomorrow. AHHH, I can't believe how fast the summer went by. It seems like just yesterday I was saying good-bye to friends that I wouldn't see until we got back from the States and people that I would not see again;(

I am going to be a sophomore this year which is kind of hard to believe. I thought my high school yeas would go by slow, but I can see now that I was very wrong. My 7-9th grade years have whizzed by. I hope that the rest of high school will go by slower so that I can enjoy it:)

Well, just to let all of you know, we got back to Romania safe and sound! It was very sad to leave the States but I am kind of glad to be back home. One of the many things that I enjoyed about our visit in the States was that we got to go to Rehoboth Beach. In the pictures, you can see how big the waves were. They were HUGE! We were too scared to go too far, but at the same time we wanted to "ride the waves". We saw other people doing it and it looked like so much fun:) We did go out past the waves with my dad and that was really fun.

The other thing that I got to do in the States was visit a few colleges:) I am going into 10th grade and my parents don't know when we are going to go back. So we decided we might as well visit a couple colleges while we have the chance. At first, I was really nervous because the whole idea of me leaving my family and going to college was sad for me. But now that I have an idea of where I would like to go and a bigger picture of what college is like, I am pretty excited.

Summer in America '09

Our time in the States has been great so far. We have gotten to:

Connect with friends that are leaving
Connect with old friends that we haven't seen in a while
See Auntie Sue and meet my cousin, Lucas, who i have never met before:)
Be in the car traveling for long periods of time
Go swimming in the lake
Stop at some really really nice rest stops. (one even had a lake where hannah, andrew and my dad went swimming)
Go to Monticello
Eat at Taco Bell, Wendy's, IHOP, Olive Garden, Chipolte, Riverside, Papa John's
I went to Williamsburg
Visited my first college, JMU
Visit VirginiaTech, Radford and Eastern Mennonite University
Go swimming in a real pool
(This list will continue through the summer)

On our way down to Virginia, we stayed with a family that we have known for a very long time. They have adopted 3 children from Korea. While we were there Clara (picture above) became attached to me:) Their youngest daughter, Yoo-Rin, who is a little over a year, is so adorable. I didn't get a picture of her because my camera ran out of batteries:(

We got to meet the Barbusca family for breakfast at this awesome little breakfast shop called Panera. For those of you that don't know, i was the their babysitter for a little over a year. They lived in Romania and worked and taught at my school but now they are moving to Morocco. It was very sad but also really nice to see them.

As you can see, we got VERY bored in the car.................treatment for bored kids on a long car trip: take pictures and make silly faces:) really makes the time go by faster.

While we were in North Carolina, we stayed with a couple, Janet and Gary, that my parents have known since they were in college. Their oldest daughter is 12 years old and so my sister and her had a great time together. They also have two younger sons who are twins and are 9 years old. So you can imagine how much fun my brother had with them:)

On our way from North Carolina back up to Virginia, we stopped at a really nice rest stop. We ate lunch there and then after lunch we went swimming in the lake.

One of the things that my grandmother wanted to do while we were here was go to Monticello, the house of President Thomas Jefferson. His house was absolutely amazing. He did not want to waste any time or space so he invented things in his house to make serving meals and just plain living more efficient. We took a tour of the house and then looked around outside where his slaves would have been working. We also got to see where he was buried.

In two days we are going to America. This year has gone by sooo fast and I have not had much time to post pictures. Hopefully later today and tomorrow I will post some pictures of everything that has happened this year:)

Here is a story:

As many of you know, my family and I live in Bucharest, Romania and things are done very differently here. (you can only believe this if you have lived here or visited and experienced it).
This year we did not have a white Christmas:( and did not get to go sledding:( So, another missionary family, the Klanseks, and us heard about this hill that had been made with fake snow. We did not really know what to expect, but we thought it sounded really cool and so we went there today to check it out. We had heard from another missionary family, who had gone there, that it was a blast!
When we got there, we were shocked by what we saw: a mass of people just standing on the hill, some trying to come down on sleds, some just standing and talking and some helping their kids get down. There was no rhyme or reason, just people doing whatever they wanted to. (which is not that surprising)
We joined the mass of people and tried (very hard) to come down, which was impossible because the snow was like powder and not very slippery at all.
Megan, Heather(her cousin) and I decided that it was pointless to try to go sledding so we decided to walk around and see what else there was to see while Hannah, Andrew, Evan, Erin, Michelle, and Caroline had fun in the snow! it was quite the experience, but we had fun.
After we had stayed there for about an hour, we went back to the Klanseks' house for dinner and games and had lots of fun together:)

Last week, we went to Bulgaria with the Smiths.

We left on Sunday the 15th and returned to Romania on Friday the 20th. The villa where we stayed was in Balchick, which is really close to Varna. It was a very big villa. There were also a lot of things that one could do throughout the day. There was a swimming pool where we spent a lot of time playing together:

While the kids played in the pool, the moms (and sometimes Avisa aka Alyssa) would sit and read their books:)

It was really fun to swim in the sea:) We also collected a lot of pretty shells.

On Wednesday, we went into Varna and played put-put golf. We also went and saw ruins of the ancient Roman Baths. They were very cool.

I think that everybody had a fun time playing put-put:)

There were 18 different holes. Some of them were really hard, while others were quite easy.

We had three teams, The parents/Han-han, Andrew and Cameron/ Emily, Avisa and me.

We also went to a Dolphinarium in Varna. The dolphins were amazing. They did a lot of tricks like dancing, singing, playing soccer,jumping through hoops, and lots more:) i don't have any of the pictures right now because Mrs. Smith has them. so when i get them, i will post them. For New Year's Eve, we went to the Popas house and played their Wii that they got for Chirstmas. It was really fun.

Monday starts the week of finals.

Next week we are going to be taking finals and i am really stressed about all that is have to get done. I studied for math and English today, mostly math. i will take those two finals on Tuesday! Well, i wish you luck to all who are studying!

And just remember that after all this is over, we will have a 3 week break from school! Yahoo!

Week Review!

Hello Everybody!
This week has been pretty busy! We had 4 tests and i had to study a lot; that is only because we have a 4 day weekend! Right now i am working on a history project that is dew Monday and I am also going to start to work on a Bible project that is dew next Friday!
Here are some of the things that happened last week and this week:

We had a progressive dinner last Friday. I went to the Staab's(a family form our school) and the Russel's(another family from my school). The food was VERY good and it was fun being with people and hanging out!
Well, i guess that is all, it seems like i have been doing a lot more.
Actually, next week, we are starting Spirit week! It is really fun.

Satic Weekend with the Coxs

This weekend we went to the mountains, Satic, with the Coxs. We did rock climbing, repelling and zip lining. We had soooooo much fun. We watched Bridge to Terabithia witch is a SAD SAD movie. I got teary eyed when i watched it! I won;t tell you waht happens in case you haven't seen it. we also watched The Phantom of the Opera. it is kinda freaky, but it is pretty good! Here are some pictures. Some of the pictures will look similar to the ones from this summer, but we aren;t with a lot of people, just the Coxs. I had a lot of fun.

Long Weekend

This week we only had 4 days of school and on Thursday we got let out at 2'o'clock! It was so good to have a day of from school. I was really tired from all the studying that i did last week. We had three test:English, Science and World cultures.
Yesturday, we went to Bolonul Copiilor with the Long girls. Actually it ws just the kids with Mr. Long. We left out houes around 12 and we didn't get back until 7 at night. It wsa a lot of fun. After we were done jumping, we went to IKEA and got hot dogs, free refills and ice cream. It was really good!
Today my dad came home from his week at Greece. We were soooooooo happy to see him. He brought back a bunch of American candy and got hannah and i REALLy pretty necklaces and my mom a pair of earrings! I love my necklace. I think it is made of shells. Any way, it is REALLy pretty!

Retreat Weekend (the real thing)

The retreat that I went to last week was excellent. I had so much fun! It was the best retreat ever. It was a lot more spiritual than last years. There was only one speaker, and that was very helpful. The main theme was spiritual authenticity. It was very challenging what he talked about, but it was also, VERY good. We had small groups and it was really neat to hear what other people thought about what Pastor Adams (the speaker) said, which was sometimes very similar to what I thought.

I shared a room with Abby, Daniela, Amy and Renee. We had so much fun together. The first night, we stayed up until 3 o’clock in the morning just talking and laughing! It was a riot. On the last night, we played capture the flag in the dark. It was very dark and you could not see if a person was on you team or not. The only hard thing was that the opponent side hid their flag in someone’s pocket after they figured out we knew where it was. But all in all, it was crazy!

There were 2 little kids that were so cute. Their names were Gianna and Hannah. Hannah was a momma’s girl, so I didn’t get to hold her, but Gianna would always come to me and we would play with balls and chase her two older brothers. It was a lot of fun.

There were no snakes or crazy train rides this year, but that is ok. The only scary thing is that Daniela told a FREAKY ghost story at night. We got so scared we were all on top of each other. Instead of silly things happenng, we had a talent show. The 7and 8 grade girls did a Veggie Tale song, Mr. p made a rap song up(wich you can see!) and soem of the other girls did a song by Hawk Nelson (which you can also see!)

To finish this off, here is a riddle for you: There were a group of hikers going up the side of a mountain. They saw a cabin up ahead. When they got close they saw that all the windows were tightly sealed and the door was tightly locked. The hikers got the door opened and saw more than 200 people dead of all ages (babies, grandparents and parents)! How did they die? (And no, someone did not kill them put them in there and then locked them in. School and the Weather

HI everybody! School has started and i am really enjoying it! I am going on a retreat with the secondary students of my school and i just can't wait! I am already packed and we are leaving on Thursday:) I just can't wait! Today before the 8th grade girls were going over some really funny things that happened last year on the retreat. Here are some of them:

On the way up, I sat with Sarah and Lexi and sometimes there are people selling magazines in the train. Well, some guy came up to us and asked us if we wanted to buy one and we said "Nu multamesc". He asked us "Do you speak English?" and Sarah said, "No we speak German" in English! That might mot seem funny, but we just all started cracking up. I guess we were really tired!
The 7th grade girls(that would be us) caught a snake and accidentally cut the tail.so blood was everywhere. We put it in a plastic bag with water in it. Abby Accidentally dropped it out the window and ran downstairs to get it! While she was cleaning the water out, it escaped and got in the sink and started to crawl out. They never used the sink again for the rest of the time~
While Abby was telling ghost stories at night, they had there little bed lamps on and all of a sudden the light went on then off and then started flickering on and off. We heard the 3 girls screaming from down the hall!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh on the train ride back, Abby got freaked out by this man who she claims definitely had cancer(i don't think so , but anyway). He let her go to the bathroom before him. The toilet didn't flush so she walked out and he started to talk to her. She had no idea what he was saying all she knows and remembers is that it was really freaky and she cam back crying!
On the way there, the 7 and 8 grade girls were throwing socks at people from the back of the train:)

These are some of the funniest memories that i have of the retreat. I am really excited about the retreat and can;'t wait to go.
It is going to be SO cold there. In Bucharest, just last week i would have said, My it is really hot here. But this pass week has been really strange. it has rained and FINALLY cooled off!

At Eliem, it is going to be literally freezing at night and extremely cold during the day! Even so , i can;t wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Constanta, Mamia and Histria

Here are some more pictures of our vacation we recently got back from. We went to Constanta to see the Roman ruins. They were VERY interesting. They were SO old and there were so many pieces of pottery; my brother even found a piece and it has writing on it. it was so cool!
Then, after we visited the meuseam, we went to the beach. We found a place that was not crowded; almost no one was there:0 It was so nice. We went in the water and oh it was SO fun. We stayed for 2 days; no one wanted to leave.

THE WATER PARK!!!!!!

Last week on Wednesday we went to the water park with the Longs and the Emigs. We has so much fun. Here are some pictures:0)

We had soooo much fun at the water park. We got there at 10:30ish and stayed there until 5:30ish. Then we went to IKEA and got 1 RON ($0.50) hot dogs, free re-fills on drinks which was REALLY fun to be able to get more without paying more and ice cream. It was sooo much fun!

School starts tomorrow so i won't have a lot to blog about, but every so often i will:0)

Adventure English Camp(s)

Here are my three weeks in Satic. I think the pictures will do a better job at telling the story.

WEEK ONE

The first week was a very big week

The first Adventure Activity that we did was........ ROCK CLIMBING!!

Another Adventure Activity that we did was...... THE ZIP LINE!! That is me...

The zip line was across the river and so people would get in there with cut water bottles and would throw water at their victim

The repelling was SO fun. I even did and so did my mom and dad:)

At the end of the week, we went on a hike. The first week i didn't go because I wasn't feeling good. From the pictures i can tell that it was beautiful. There were four hikes categorized from really easy, easy, hard and really hard. The really hard hike was an all day hike, the hard hike was about 7 or 8 hours, the easy hike was about 3 hours and the really easy hike was............ stay at home if you are sick!:)

Hello everybody! I hope you are having a great summer:) Yesterday the team arrived safely but their luggage did not. We are going to leave for Satic in a few days so I won't be able to blog.(there is no internet access there.) So far my summer has been really good. i have gotten to go to the Longs and babysit. That is probably the most fun i have had this summer. it has been a great experience and i am so glad i had this chance. We are leaving pretty soon to go to the mountains. We are going to be there be there for 3 weeks because we have English camps. It will be fun to be in the mountains with my family. Well, what can i say. It is really hot here and i am dying. Our room is so hot that i can't even go in there. well, gotta go!

Sunday School With Babies!

At my church, i work in the room with children 0-2 yrs old. It is really fun, so i thought i would share some pictures that i took of the children, so you can get a feel of what it is like to take care of a bunch of toddlers!

He is soooo cute in this picture:

This boy's name is Dominic! He is so adorable and fun to hold! He is soooo light!

This is an amazing little girl. She is so funny and proper! Whenever she eats her cheerios she puts her napkin down and smooths it out and then puts several cheerios down to eat.

All of the kids LOVE to play with this Noah's Ark set, especially Anna Lee(this girl)! It is funny to watch them play together

Everybody loves food!!! "hey, vreau si eu!!!!"(Hey, i want some too!!)

They also LOVE to play on the rocking horse! Sometimes they even stand on it and act like an acrobat! Especially Luca!! ( Sorry that it is crooked, i can't figure out how to change it!!!!! HELP!)

We teach our kids at a young age to clean up after themselves!!![she is helping us clean off the baby toys with a wipe(that is what we do after the children leave, but her mom was late)]

Yesterday there was a cookout at BCA! I twas really fun!

Field Day!

We just got back from field day! It was so fun! We played games and after that we had a water fight! IT was sooooooooooo fun! We ate lunch and then the secondary students and elementary students slip up and secondary, including me, went and played softball! I came in near the end, but i still had fun! The elementary students played kick ball and i think they all had fun.

I was on the pink team, and there were lots of other colors. We had a chant that went, "We are the pink team (repeat), the mighty, mighty pink team(repeat)!" we would chant that whenever we were done a station or when we had beaten someones record! It was really fun!

The first station that we went to was the hool-a-hoop contest. I got tired after about 2 min. but i kept going for almost 7min! We came in 2nd place. Rachel, a friend from school, went for 10 min!!!!!!!!!!! Her team got first place.

Here are some really cool chalk drawings that an excellent artist drew. They look soooooooo real. I was amazed that some would make a flat drawing on the ground look like it was alive. I thought it would be cool to put them on my blog for people to see:

Summer Vacation Is Just around the corner!!

Hello!
Sorry i have not blogged in a long time! I have been really busy with school and stuff like that.

I am so excited that summer vacation is near. My summer is not going to be packed with a lot of things to do, but it will be fun and relaxing being with my family! We are not going to go back to America, but we are going to go to the mountains of Romania for English camps! I am so excited!

Sibiu!!

WOW! I had such a great time in Sibiu! There was beautiful weather and........ I think the pictures will tell the rest of the story.

The first day after our arrival we went on a hike in the woods. It was beautiful!

We also went to a museum:

We visited many fortified churches and towers, walls, etc:

We visited these churches as we were in Sibiu. Not all of them were in Sibiu. Sometimes people that worked there would give us a tour. There were a lot of interesting things there.

Yeah. So, we did a lot of things in Subiu and it was really fun. Later on. I will put a lot of pictures ( just pictures)

Spring Break!!!!

WOW!! Today is the first day of spring Break! And i know this is going to be the best day ever because.................................MY GRANDFATHER IS COMING!!!!!!!! We are going to Sibiu (with my grandfather) for the first week and then the second we are going to just hang out(he is only staying here for one week).

Well, i know i have not written in a long time! that is because i have been busy with school and those sorts of thing!
Right now in history we have a test coming up, and when a test comes up, we have to make a notebook from our notes!
Our teacher is the coolest person in the world. he is also the smartest History teacher ever!!! He has great ideas, and always makes learning fun! That is because he is a very fun teacher!
Mr. McDannel has this competition with Miss. Gerrits( our 6th grade teacher), to see who is better. right now i have to say that it is a tie! Well, i better go prepare my brain for the test tomorrow!

Christmas Break

This Christmas break has been really fun! During the last week of Christmas break, the Popa family and the York family (that would be my family), went to Brasov for a little vacation! we were planning to stay there until the 2nd or 3rd of January. Little did we know, but we were in for a big surprise! I will start at the beginning

On Dec. 29th we drove up to Brasov. It took along time to get there because traffic was sooooo bad. We got to the place we were staying in around 4:00 I think! People had told as that there was no snow in Brosov, but there was! Actually there was a lot! The next morning, we decided to go and see if there was enough snow to go sledging! We had a blast going up and down the hill! After a while we decided to check out and see if there was another hill nearby. Instead of looking, we decided to get a hot drink and a snack because the youngest Popa was getting a little tired! We got our hot drinks and the men went to get a snack of french-fries and hot dogs! The line took forever though! We ended up waiting outside in the cold for a long time!

When the men finally got the snacks, we decided to just go home. We said that we would go to the little hill that we saw the next day.

That is pretty much what our days were like. We would play in the snow and then have a good time playing boggle late into the night!

The night that was really fun was New Years Eve or day (whatever you would like to call it!). Now, you have to understand something, before I tell you what happened: This year was a very special day for all of ROMANIA because they were entering the EU (European Union), and because I live in ROMANIA, I was happy too! There were big fireworks and all sorts of things!! It was really crazy. We even got speckled with Champagne!!! It was a riot, but we had a lot of fun!

So, now comes the interesting part! The night of the 2nd, all of the girls were hoping that it would snow because al the snow had melted that day! Well, after we ate dinner, it started to rain and snow just a little!! Well, during the night, it snowed, and snowed, and snowed A LOT! In the morning, it looked like a winter wonderland! So we all got our snowsuits and clothes on and went outside with our dads! While the dads we cleaning off the cars and the moms were packing, us kids played in the snow! We were having a grand time, hoping that we could stay another day!

When the dads started to move the cars, our trusty old car wouldn’t move!!! WE WERE SNOWED IN!!!!! We were sooo happy that we jumped for joy!!

Then the next day we left! We all were very sad to leave, because we had had a magnificent time!

WOW!!!! I cannot believe that there is just one more day until Christmas!!!!! It is really exciting! I cannot wait! Tomarrow we are going to go to church with some friends of ours! Then we are going to come home and have a brunch with a very special friend! I will tell you more about it in the next few days, being that i will know what is going to happen! Merry Christmas everyone!

I don't know about you, but I just love the Holiday. Whenever it gets close to Christmas I always get happy partly because we get out of school and partly because we get to celebrate Jesus's birth!
During the Christmas holiday we always get carolers that sing Christmas songs at the door! It is really fun even though sometimes we don't answer, but you can still hear the beautiful singing because they sing in the hallway and at other people's houses!
OH my gosh!!! I just went to go and see how many more days there were till Christmas and there is only one more week! 7 DAYS! I cannot believe it! It seems like December just started! This month has flown by! WOW!
There are many good things about winter.
here are some of my favorite:
1. You get to drink Hot Chocolate.
2. You get to eat candy canes.
3. You get to decorate and have a Christmas tree!
4. And many other things that would take me forever to type!
Oh, i almost forgot! Today, we are having 2 familes over, the Coxes and the Nelsteads! With them we are going to decorate sugar cookies that my mom and I made yesterday and also gingerbread men and women that my mom and I also made yesterday! I think we are going to have SO much fun! We are also going to have chili for dinner!
Well i think i better go and help my mom get ready!

This is my sister!!! She is 10 years old and is very nice to me and most everyone else!! She loves to read and loves animals!! She is crazy about them!
She also loves to draw and she is very good at it too!! I love her very much! She and my brother are twins.

This is my mom! I love her a lot!She teaches third grade at my school, so i get to see her during the day!

This is my dad....... in one of his crazy moods!! Actually, he is in crazy moods all the time! He is always crazy! It kind of drives me crazy, but i still LOVE him very much!!!!
